Basic Brown Gravy

Basic brown caramel colored home made gravy sauce for meat steak recipeA simple way to add depth to any meal.

Ingredients (Kitchen-friendly) Ingredients (Metric)
3 Tbsp margarine 40 g margarine
3 Tbsp flour 30 g flour
1 can (14.5 oz) beef broth 411 g beef broth
1/2 c milk 125 g milk
1 tsp D.D. Williamson Caramel Color Powder

Directions:

  1. Melt margarine in 2 quart saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add flour.
  3. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in broth and milk.
  5. Add D.D. Williamson Caramel Color Powder
  6. With constant stirring, cook til gravy boils and reaches desired consistency.
  7. Season to taste.

Tips:

  • This is a basic gravy recipe and can be created in just minutes.
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes with 2 cups of water may replace the can of beef broth.
  • If chicken flavor is your preference, chicken broth may be used instead of beef broth
